Patricia Joyce Findleton, born Patricia Joyce Hallihan (aka Patty Hallihan) on March 3, 1928, was married to Samuel Diehl “Smiling Sam” Findleton on June 19, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. She passed away on April 13, 2006. She died from a cerebral hemorrhage caused by her medication (blood thinner) she was taking for atrial fib.

I got the call and went immediately to Marshal Medical Center in Placerville. My heart fell on the floor when I viewed her CT scan and immediately new the outcome. There was an angel that day in the ER. Here name was Flow and she helped get Mom moved back to the ranch where her entire family could be with her as she passed. We all spent precious time telling her how much she was loved and how grateful we were to have her as our matriarch. Jeanetta drove from Los Angeles, spoke her parting words, and then, with her entire family in tears, she peacefully passed into God's kingdom.

She was only 24 when I was born on October 4, 1952. She was married at 20! She was the "instigator" and Dad was the facilitator. "Sam, let's go to Alaska". Dad, "I hook up the 5th Wheeler and pack my tools and supplies".

I was #3 of 5 boys and one girl. Four years of marriage - 3 boys! All “Irish Twins” or 15 months apart!

Ten years after marriage, the 605 Freeway took our house in Norwalk, California and Dad purchased one acre in La Habra Heights where he designed and constructed our four level custom home with a view to Catalina Island!

I later purchased that home in 1982 at the age of 30. Dad retired at 55 from Rockwell International. He was Chief of Industrial Engineering and responsible for Laguna Nigel, (Now the Chesterfield Building) a 1.2 million sq./ft. building where all seventeen of the Rockwell owned companies would operate with 24 hour shifts. The five story structure was designed for 26 escalators from the massive parking lot to handle the shift changes. Dad took me there as a child to the site where it was constructed. They paid attention to the footprint of a building that size by putting the streams underground and removing the hillside they replaced with the largest building ever built at that time. He was crushed when it was sold to the US Government and used for storing papers!

The Chet Holifield Federal Building, originally built by Rockwell International in Laguna Niguel, California, between 1968 and 1971, was traded to the U.S. government in 1974 after Rockwell did not occupy it due to a failed defense contract. The General Services Administration (GSA) has owned and managed the property since then, using it to house federal agencies like the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security, with the National Archives and Records Administration previously storing Pacific Region records there until relocating.In 2024, the GSA auctioned the 92-acre property, including the 1-million-square-foot ziggurat-style building, starting at $70 million. After a five-month bidding war, Pintar Investment Co., based in San Juan Capistrano, won the auction with a $177 million bid on October 23, 2024. The sale, finalized on October 25, 2024, requires Pintar to submit a $17.5 million deposit and close escrow within 180 days (by April 23, 2025). The property was sold "as-is," with no guarantee of rezoning for alternative uses like housing, and the GSA removed historic preservation covenants, allowing potential demolition or redevelopment. Current tenants, including the IRS, are set to vacate by February 28, 2025. Thus, while the GSA retains ownership as of May 13, 2025, Pintar Investment Co. is the prospective owner pending escrow closure.
